Scott Houlton
Chief Executive Officer

Scott Houlton is an experienced industry executive with over 25 years of experience across a number of pharmaceutical services companies. Scott joined CSM as CEO in 2016 to help drive continued growth and expansion. Prior to joining CSM, Scott was President, Development & Clinical Services and an Officer at Catalent, Inc. where he helped build the business into the leading global development service provider with operations in the US, Europe and Asia. During this time, Scott led the expansion of the business through strong organic growth and numerous acquisitions, including establishing the first full service clinical packaging facility in China. Past roles include Chief Operating Officer at Aptuit, Inc., Vice-President, Clinical Supplies at Quintiles Transnational and various management positions at Cardinal Health, Inc. and General Electric.

 As CEO, Scott has responsibility for all aspects of the business and reports to the Board of Directors. He brings a deep passion for building businesses and strong leadership teams. Clinical Supplies is a specialized part of the industry that allows for directly helping patients in need to receive critically important medicines while creating great value for pharmaceutical and biotech companies developing new compounds. The intersection of helping patients while creating value and developing talent offers Scott the unique opportunity to drive real, lasting benefit.

 Scott is originally from Ohio and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in Finance and in International Business from The Ohio State University.

Gerald E. Finken, RPh

Founder, Chief Scientific Officer

Gerald Finken, R.Ph., M.S., has over 35 years of experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. He has worked as an independent clinical supplies consultant and has held management positions with Bristol-Myers Squibb Company and PRACS Institute, Ltd. In 1997, he founded CSM, where he invented On-Demand packaging and labeling and pioneered Direct-to-Patient services.

 As Chief Scientific Officer, Mr. Finken focuses on innovation, business strategies, and growth opportunities, including the further development of Direct-to-Patient and On-Demand services. He is a licensed pharmacist in seven states, and is the 2007 recipient of the Elan Innovative Pharmacy Practice Award.

 Mr. Finken received his Bachelors of Science degree from Rutgers College of Pharmacy, in New Brunswick, NJ; and his Masters degree from Kean College, in Union, NJ, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He is also a member of the American Pharmacists Association, American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, Drug Information Association, International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineering, and the North Dakota Pharmaceutical Association.  

Brian Swites

Brian Swites has over 30 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, specializing in global clinical supply chain management. As President, Swites oversees global capabilities, strategic partnerships, and ensures overall growth and performance goals are being met. This role is crucial in supporting CSM's future growth, which includes expanding our innovative offerings and opening multiple locations throughout the United States.

Prior to joining CSM, Swites held various management positions during his 13 years at Cephalon, Inc./Teva Pharmaceuticals Industries, Ltd. He received his Master's Degree in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing from the Stevens Institute of Technology. Swites joined the CSM team in January 2015 and has since held a series of leadership roles, most recently serving as Vice President of Operations.

Bob Albanese

Senior Vice President, Strategic Development

Bob Albanese brings over 30 years of experience in diversified industries to the CSM team. As Senior Vice President of Strategic Development, Albanese implements processes and tools that allow continual growth. As leader of the sales, marketing, and client services team, Albanese is the catalyst of innovation and growth by expanding CSM's global footprint and implementing cutting-edge technologies throughout the entire company.

Prior to joining CSM, Albanese spent 20 years in cold chain logistics, managing the daily operations for a nationwide refrigerated trucking company. He also spent 12 years with a large-scale construction company, managing software design solutions including cost control, budget management and real-time data from field operations. Albanese joined CSM in 2011 as the Director of Operations.

Michael Bernstein

Vice President, Global Compliance and Risk Management

Michael Bernstein, M.S., brings over 26 years of Compliance experience in the pharmaceutical industry to the CSM team. Prior to joining CSM, Bernstein held various R&D and Manufacturing Compliance positions during his 26-years at Merck & Co. Inc.  Bernstein's last position at Merck was Head of Controlled Substance Compliance, in which he provided compliance oversight and assurance for all global controlled substance activities.

Currently, as Vice President of Global Compliance and Risk Management, Bernstein is responsible for the oversight of CSM's global compliance and quality programs as well as providing strategic guidance on matters relating to compliance and risk management.  He also oversees the Quality Assurance, Quality Control and Information Technology departments at CSM. 

Bernstein is a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt and a member of the American Society for Quality, Parenteral Drug Association, and Professional Risk Managers' International Association. He received his Bachelors of Science degree from Thomas Jefferson University Cum Lade and his Master of Science degree from Rutgers University.
